The Emancipation Committee of Upson is dedicated to preserving, continuing, and improving one of the oldest Emancipation Day celebrations in Georgia. Our goal is to honor the historic moment when the Emancipation Proclamation reached Upson County (Thomaston), while supporting youth initiatives, assisting other organizations, and contributing to the ongoing betterment of our community. We believe that by celebrating our past, we build a stronger future for generations to come.

As A Member You Can
- Help preserve and grow one of Georgia’s oldest Emancipation celebrations.
- Assist in planning and organizing community events and cultural activities.
- Support youth through scholarships, giveaways, and educational programs.
- Volunteer at festivals, parades, revivals, and other community gatherings.
- Help foster unity and promote positive change within Upson County.
