About the event
"Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But 100 years later, the Negro still is not free." -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (an insert from "I Have A Dream")
Martin Luther King Day is seen as a day to promote equal rights for all Americans, regardless of racial, gender, ethnic, religious, or other backgrounds. It is a day to honor a man who had such big hopes for us as people! He wanted equality for all and this day as well as the other 364 is our chance to move forward in that direction and help his dreams come true!
